Buildings of the future???

Formerly a water tank!

The House in the Clouds was built for storage of a basic water supply to the Thorpeness village in 1923.

Faced with the difficult task of hiding the eyesore, the engineering team brilliantly disguised it as a cottage high up in the trees.

The steel structure was boarded in to provide a unique living accommodation, although for many years the accommodation did not include the  top of the tower, which housed the 50,000 gallon water tank. In 1977 the use of the tank for storage was discontinued and it passed into private ownership which now offers unique holiday getaways.
